Derby Eiffel Hotel, Paris – Hotel Review

Location

5 Avenue Duquesne
(7th Arrondissement)
75007 Paris

First Impressions

Derby Eiffel Hotel is a beautiful, small boutique hotel and it was a great find for location and value in Paris’ 7th Arrondissement. Clean, quiet and welcoming.

Check In

Reception staff are friendly, efficient, speak great English and will help you practice your French if you so desire. The hotel is happy to hold your luggage prior to check in and after check out for you to continue exploring.
The elevator is small and only capable of carrying 4-6 adults at a time, however the hotel is only a 5 floors high so wait time is limited.
The hotel sits on a tree lined street in a very safe and quiet area. The Eiffel Tower is an easy, flat 10 minute walk, Musee D’Orsay, 15 minutes.

The Room

We stayed in a ‘Single Room’ on the 4th floor with street/Eiffel Tower views. It was a small room by Australian standards but still with space to move around and with a modernised and clean bathroom. It featured a comfortable double bed with modern room touches. Chic and compact!
The room was equipped with a small closet, a writing desk and chair, safe, a minibar, cable TV with some English channels, wireless internet (extra charge). Bathroom has a shower over the bath, a hair dryer, complimentary toiletries and air-conditioning. Fresh towels are supplied daily along with daily room cleaning.
The room had large opening windows for fresh air and to take in the Parisian streets, sounds and views. The view of the Eiffel Tower from the room was superb! Wonderful sunsets and nightly viewing of the Eiffel Tower light show made this room extra special.

Facilities

The hotel bar and lounge is open from 9am until midnight each night for tea, coffee, alcoholic drinks and cocktails or for a quiet, comfortable place to chill out while waiting on transport.

Dining

There are many local cafes and restaurants close by the hotel for great French cuisine and people watching. A Carre Four Supermarket is located just down the street for on the go food including pre-packaged salads, sandwiches, snacks, drinks and delicious pastries and desserts. Although a self-serve buffet breakfast is offered for an extra charge (approx 14 euros per person, per day) there are plenty of great options close by and for better value.

Final Verdict

A highly recommended hotel for comfort, service, value and its brilliant location. Check prices with the hotel direct as they often run great specials with internet, champagne and breakfast included with your rate that can be much better than the big booking sites.

Hot Tip

If using 3rd party booking websites, make a polite request, after booking, with the hotel direct for a street/Eiffel Tower view room.
