Things to Do
The Taronga Zoo has a jam packed daily timetable with some of the free shows and talks repeating multiple times per day to make sure you can get the most out of your day and admission.
Not Normal Living recommends downloading the park map and timetable prior to visiting to make sure you have a good plan for your day – with over 4000 animals, there is a lot to see and experience!!
For a great “self tour” experience download the Taronga Zoo Audio app from the App Store or Google Play, it has 33 audio tracks in 10 different categories, covering Australian, African, Asian, marine animals and more. Interactive map showing animal locations and a day planer of Taronga’s 20+ free keeper talks and shows.
Getting There
The quickest and easiest way to get to Taronga Zoo is by public transport. The Zoo is located 12 minutes from Circular Quay by ferry or a short bus/train trip from the city or North Sydney.
For detailed information of all private and public transport options click here.
The Not Normal Living team used the Ferry which was a simple, easy process. The Opal transport card is a re-loadable card that is used for all public transport in and around Sydney. They are a great option if you are spending more than 1 day using public transport. Single trip tickets are available from ticket machines at the start of Wharf 3 & 4 and at the dock at Taronga Zoo for the return journey. Single ticket pricing is $6.20 each way per adult (Opal card price at time of visit was $5.75 per adult each way). The Taronga Zoo Ferry leaves from Wharf 2 at Circular Quay.
